Marsha Thomason will return as DS Jenn Townsend in a fifth series of The Bay, it has been announced.
The ITV crime drama - set in Morecambe - follows the team at a local police force as they investigate a different major case each series.
The show, created and written by Daragh Carville, has delivered consistently high ratings across each of its four series to date, with the most recent run peaking in excess of 6 million viewers.
In a press release, ITV said that series five would follow "the emotionally complex life of a divided family. With the father and mother of the victim bitterly divorced, Jenn Townsend and the team will have to tread very carefully to keep the whole family onside."
Exec producer Catherine Oldfield said: "Daragh and I couldn't be happier to be heading back to Morecambe with Marsha and the team for another case.
"We love making the show and so we're delighted to be producing another series for ITV and viewers at home and abroad."
The new series will be filmed later this year for broadcast on ITV in early 2024.
