Piers Morgan has announced that Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has agreed to be interviewed for his Life Stories programme.
The move comes as Starmer, 58, faces questions over his leadership of the opposition after they took a battering at last week's local elections, also losing the solid Labour seat of Hartlepool to Boris Johnson's Conservatives.
For Morgan, meanwhile, the interview will mark his first major project for ITV since he quit Good Morning Britain in March.
Announcing the news on Twitter, Morgan wrote: "@Keir_Starmer has agreed to appear on my Life Stories show. We're doing the interview next week, and it will air soon afterwards. Party leaders rarely submit themselves to such lengthy personal interviews so it should be a fascinating encounter. #LifeStories"
Morgan is thought to be filming two episodes of Life Stories next week, although the identity of his second guest has not yet been revealed.
