Philip Baker Hall, a veteran character actor with a career spanning over 50 years, has died at the age of 90.
The news was confirmed by his wife Holly Wolfle Hall, who said that he had been well until a few weeks ago and died on Sunday surrounded by family at his home in Glendale, California.
Hall notably had roles on Seinfeld as Lt Joe Buckman, Modern Family as Walt Kleezak and Curb Your Enthusiasm as Dr Morrison, while his CV boasted a range of top shows including Cheers, The West Wing, M*A*S*H, Murder, She Wrote and Falcon Crest.
On the big screen, he was known for films including The Truman Show, Boogie Nights, Bruce Almighty and Magnolia.
Hall is survived by wife Holly, their two daughters and two daughters from his first marriage.
