Nigel Lythgoe has revealed that he has been axed as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance after 17 years.
The veteran choreographer and producer has served as a permanent judge on every season of the Fox dance contest to date - and also co-created the format alongside Simon Fuller.
The show has been off the air since summer 2019 due to coronavirus but will return for a new season this summer - and in a post on Twitter, Lythgoe confirmed that he will not be on the judging panel.
"I am so thrilled that America's young aspiring dance talent will get to work with some of our greatest creative choreographers," he wrote.
"On a personally sad note, I have not been asked to be on the judging panel this season. I don't know who will be saying 'Cue Music' but I wish them well."
Lythgoe gained fame in the UK in the early noughties appearing as a judge on Popstars, which earned him the nickname 'Nasty Nigel'.
