Piers Morgan has announced that he is stepping down as host of his Life Stories interview series for ITV after 12 years.
The move comes seven months after Morgan quit ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain amid a furore over Meghan Markle - and weeks after he announced plans for a show on Rupert Murdoch's new TV station talkTV from the new year.
Announcing the news on Twitter, Morgan said that he would present one final edition later this year, which will see him interview ex-colleague and close friend Kate Garraway, who will then go on to replace him as host of the format.
"I'm quitting Life Stories after 12 years and 100 shows," he wrote. "My final one will be with my fabulous friend @kategarraway and she will then present the remaining 3 planned shows of the next series as I leave ITV to host my new global daily show. It's been a blast!"
Morgan's final show will be recorded in mid-November and air on ITV before Christmas.
