The investigation into the handling of Phillip Schofield's affair with a This Morning colleague will reportedly see all of the show's hosts called for questioning.

ITV's investigation into the Phillip Schofield saga will reportedly see all of the hosts of This Morning and Loose Women called in for questioning.

Schofield, 61, resigned from ITV last month after admitting to lying about having had an affair with a younger colleague on This Morning several years ago.

The young man in question - aged in his 20s - was "promoted" to work on Loose Women around the time allegations about the relationship first surfaced in late 2019 and early 2020.

ITV has said that the pair were asked about the speculation at the time but both denied being romantically involved. Nevertheless, questions have been raised about the exact timeline and ITV's handling of the situation - in particular with regards to the welfare of the young man - and now the broadcaster is undertaking an "externally led" investigation into what happened.

According to The Sun, that process will involve the hosts of both daytime shows at the time being quizzed about what they knew and when.

The newspaper says that the likes of Holly Willoughby, Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond will be interviewed, while Eamonn Holmes - a vocal critic of Schofield and a presenter at the time - will also be asked for his input, as will his wife Ruth Langsford.

"Holly, Alison and Ruth - who is still close with the young man - will all be quizzed, as well as others who worked on This Morning or Loose Women during the time of Phil's affair," a source said.

"No matter how big the celebrity, they will be asked to speak and provide evidence.

"Eamonn Holmes, who has been very vocal, will also be asked to provide evidence. No stone will be left unturned."

ITV has promised that the investigation will be carried out "as quickly as possible".
