The veteran star of stage and screen, 77, is known for playing ditsy Penelope in the sitcom Vicious, in addition to roles in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, Dangerfield and the '80s sitcom No Place Like Home.
According to The Sun, Warren will next be seen playing The Queen's mother in seasons five and six of The Crown, filming for which has just got underway.
The Queen Mum - wife of King George VI - died in 2002 at the age of 101 and was one of the most popular members of the Royal Family, becoming known for her cheeky personality and love for a tipple in her twilight years.
Imelda Staunton is taking over as the monarch for the final two seasons of the epic royal drama, with Dominic West portraying Prince Charles and Elizabeth Debicki cast as Princess Diana.
Season five is expected to cover the 1990s, a period which included Charles and Diana's divorce and Diana's tragic death, while season six will focus on the early 21st century, including the deaths of The Queen Mother and The Queen's sister Princess Margaret.
