Five-way battle for top spot of UK albums chart

Katy Perry, Metallica and Disclosure are among five acts in with a realistic shot of topping the albums chart this week.

Five new releases are all competing for the number one spot on this week's albums chart, according to data from the Official Charts Company.

After four days of sales, Metallica lead the way with live album S&M2, currently 2,000 sales ahead of jazz singer Gregory Porter's All Rise.

The third album from hip hop star Nines, Crabs In A Bucket, is tracking at three, Disclosure's Energy is at four and new mum Katy Perry's Smile is currently fifth.

Fewer than 3,000 chart sales separate first from fifth in the midweek chart, meaning that any one of them could claim top spot with three more days of sales to come.

On the singles chart, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion could get their first number one with 'WAP'.
