GB News chief exec Angelos Frangopoulos announces plans for a new "high-tech" studio in Westminster.

GB News has confirmed plans to open a new Westminster studio just across from the Houses of Parliament later this year.

At the moment the vast majority of the channel's programming comes from its Paddington HQ, while a rented studio space near Lambeth Bridge is used for shows from Nigel Farage, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Camilla Tominey and Lee Anderson.

Later this year the broadcaster will have a second full-time "high-tech" production space based inside the QEII Conference Centre in Whitehall, approximately 0.2 miles from Parliament.

The new studio - believed to be in the same space previously occupied by Sky News - will become the new home for GB News' political staff, headed up by Christopher Hope and Tom Harwood, and will also house reporters working on digital content and podcasts.

GB News' head of technology and operations Stephen Willmott said: "The new facility will be a big boost to our production capability, both for broadcast and for digitally exclusive content and podcasts. It will also allow us to complete an ongoing upgrade of our main studios."

CEO Angelos Frangopoulos said in an email to staff: "We're achieving a great deal, but we can't afford to rest. As we've seen in recent weeks, not everyone wants us to succeed and, as our passionate audience grows, so does the scrutiny on us.

"We've made huge leaps in our production quality, but we can and must do better. Great work can be easily undone by a spelling mistake, audio or video issue, or a guest's poor wi-fi, so it's vital we strive collectively to deliver excellence in all we do. This responsibility lies with every one of us so please, if you see or hear something, say something!

"We still have mountains to climb but thanks to you all, and your willingness to be as nimble and adaptable as a start-up like ours demands, we're getting there step by step!"

Elsewhere, exec producer Ben Briscoe - formerly of Good Morning Britain and Piers Morgan's TalkTV show - has been promoted to the role of GB News head of programming.
