Sky News will launch a pop-up spinoff channel on Monday offering complete coverage of the trial for the murder of George Floyd.
Floyd - an African-American man - was killed in Minneapolis last May after a police officer kneeled on his neck for more than eight minutes in an incident that sparked worldwide protests as part of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The officer concerned, Derek Chauvin, is now on trial for his murder, and with opening statements in the case due on Monday, Sky is launching a dedicated channel to broadcast proceedings from inside the court room.
The pop-up channel will be available on Sky channel 524, as well as the Sky News website, app and YouTube channel.
Sky has form with short-lived spinoff channels, having offered Sky News Brexit-Free, Sky News Raw and Sky Ocean Rescue in recent years.
Meanwhile, the launch of the pop-up service means that the next available slot for the forthcoming GB News channel is now 525 instead of 524, unless the broadcaster manages to purchase a slot higher up the EPG from an incumbent.
