Sky has confirmed that it will close the E! Entertainment channel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the end of the year.
The station - from Sky's sister company NBC Universal - launched in the region in 2011 but is being shuttered after an operational review.
A Sky Deutchland spokesman told Broadband TV News: "For strategic reasons, the channel E! Entertainment will be discontinued at the end of the year.
"We are fully concentrating on our very successful pay-TV channel brands 13th Street, SYFY and Universal TV, providing our customers with an exciting and broad entertainment portfolio."
The move raises inevitable speculation about the future of the channel in the UK and Ireland, which has an average audience share of just 0.02% according to latest BARB figures.
