Adam Hussain has quit his role as Aadi Alahan on Coronation Street after five years.
The 24-year-old took over the part of Aadi - son of Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and brother of Asha (Tanisha Gorey) - in April 2020 but is said to have grown bored by his character's lack of storylines in recent months.
A source told The Sun: "He's telling people he's quit, not because he's had enough of the show but his character hasn't had any decent storylines for ages.
"He's had loads of new opportunities coming his way so he already feels like he's made the right decision."
Posting on Instagram, Hussain confirmed: "I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.
"Over the 5 years I've spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!
"This isn't a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later!
"I'm excited to see what the future brings! Thank you Coronation Street for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!"
Hussain is the latest of several cast members to be departing in the coming months, with Charlotte Jordan (Daisy), Colson Smith (Craig), Sue Cleaver (Eileen) and Katy Cavanagh (Julie) all also on the way out.
