Dame Maureen Lipman will take another extended break from Coronation Street in order to take part in a play.
The 76-year-old, who has played Evelyn Plummer on the soap since 2018, had several months off at the end of last year in order to take part in her one-woman play Rose in Manchester and London.
Now Lipman has been confirmed for a fresh run of dates as the play transfers to the Ambassador's Theatre in London for four weeks of performances beginning at the end of May.
Speaking about Rose, which follows a woman escaping post-Nazi Europe for a new life in the US, Lipman said: "I am delighted to be putting Rose back on her bench for a limited run at the Ambassadors in May.
"I thought I could never have the power to revisit Martin Sherman's mystical, magical deeply philosophical and wildly funny creation, but Rose is in my blood and she has to be revived."
The news means that Evelyn is likely to depart the cobbles some time over the summer.
