Stephanie Davis has left her role as Courtney Vance on Coronation Street after less than four months.
The character first appeared on the cobbles in July as the high-maintenance wife of Darren (Ryan Early), a businessman who set up a deal with Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) and went on to hire Dev's son Aadi (Adam Hussain) as his personal assistant.
Courtney immediately set her sights on making Aadi her toyboy lover and they began an affair, resulting in her leaving Darren and moving into a flat with Aadi.
In this week's episodes, however, Courtney has realised that she could not get accustomed to a less glamorous lifestyle and dumped Aadi in order to return to Darren.
A source told The Sun: "Steph was over the moon to land a part on Corrie after things went so wrong on Hollyoaks and she had genuinely impressed with her work and commitment to the ITV soap.
"Naturally she'd hoped that maneater Courtney could stick around for a good few years but bosses feel like the story arc is complete - she's not being killed off, though, so there's no reason why Courtney couldn't one day return and the door remains open to Steph."
Davis's final scenes are expected to air later this month.
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
