Doctor Alex George has admitted that he is feeling the emotional effects of dealing with the coronavirus pandemic on the frontline.
The former Love Island star is working in the A&E department at University Hospital Lewisham in London, where he is treating hundreds of patients who have contracted COVID-19.
George has used his substantial social media following to provide regular updates on the devastating effects of the disease and, speaking on Good Morning Britain today, he admitted that he is feeling the strain.
"I'd be lying if I said I hadn't shed a tear coming home," he said. "It's important to share what you are feeling, especially men are sometimes afraid of sharing their emotions, we all need to open up and share how we are feeling.
"There are some risks here, but I signed up to this and I'll do my best. Consultants who have worked for 20/30 years have said they have never seen anything like it before."
Almost 100,000 people in the UK have now tested positive for coronavirus, with at least 12,868 losing their lives.
