Hollyoaks star Jonas Khan - aka Zain Rizwaan - confirms that he will exit the soap later this year.

Jonas Khan has revealed that he is the latest member of the Hollyoaks cast to leave the show amid a huge cull.

The Channel 4 soap is reducing from five episodes a week to just three from September and in order to accommodate the change, around 20 cast members are departing over the coming months.

Among those confirmed to leave - or to have already left - are Owen Warner (Romeo), Stephanie Waring (Cindy), Jamie Lomas (Warren), Jamelia (Sharon), Ross Adams (Scott) and Theo Graham (Hunter), while rumours have indicated that they may be joined by Alex Fletcher (Diane), Emma Rigby (Hannah), Richard Blackwood (Felix) and Annie Wallace (Sally).

In a post on social media, Khan - aka Zain Rizwaan - wrote simply: "Hollyoaks! Done."

The character first arrived in the village two years ago and soon after got married to fan favourite Misbah (Harvey Virdi), but in recent months their marriage has been beset by difficulties and Zain has also suffered a stroke.

The nature of Zain's departure - and whether or not he will be killed off - has yet to be revealed, although the timing of Khan's post suggests that Zain will leave in June or July.
