Ex-Commons Speaker John Bercow tipped for I'm A Celebrity

Former Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow is tipped for this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Former House of Commons speaker John Bercow has been linked with this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The 57-year-old presided over proceedings in parliament between 2009 and 2019, becoming known for his unconventionally theatrical performances from the chair.

Since leaving the role and stepping down as an MP in December, Bercow has made a number of TV appearances - including a bizarre cameo on an Italian talk show which elicited ridicule on social media.

Bookmakers Coral have now tipped him to appear in the I'm A Celebrity jungle this November with odds as short as 1/2 for him to take part.

"Our betting suggests I'm A Celeb bosses will persuade the former Speaker of the House of Commons to take the leap into the jungle this year," a spokesman told The Mirror.

"Bercow is likely to be one of the most vocal contestants in camp and we think he would be in contention for being crowned King of the Jungle."

Other contestants rumoured to be taking part include Vernon Kay, Carole Baskin, Charles Ingram and John Barnes.
