Love Island spinoff to air on ITV2 this summer?

ITV reportedly gives the go-ahead to a Love Island retrospective show in lieu of a proper series this summer.

Love Island will reportedly return to ITV2 this summer for a new 'best of' spinoff series.

This summer's series of the dating show was officially cancelled by ITV earlier this month due to the coronavirus pandemic, which made going ahead with the series effectively impossible due to social distancing guidelines.

According to the Daily Star, the broadcaster has now ordered a number of highlights shows looking back at the past six series of Love Island, with former contestants commenting on the clips from their homes in a Gogglebox-style format.

"It's going to be a lovely trip down memory lane for the contestants," a source told the newspaper. "They'll be watching some of their best – and worst – moments. Seeing their reactions will be priceless.

"It will also be a chance for viewers to see how the contestants have changed since their time on Love Island."

Among the former contestants in the frame to appear are Megan Barton Hanson, Olivia Attwood, Kem Cetinay and Amber Gill.
