This year's Radio 1 Big Weekend will be held in Liverpool, it has been announced, with Sam Fender confirmed as the first of the headliners.
The traditional start of the festival season, Big Weekend 2025 is being staged in Sefton Park - a stone's throw from the Mersey - on the weekend of May 23 to May 25, when more than 100 artists will play to a live audience expected to top 100,000.
Other artists announced for the weekend are Myles Smith, the winner of this year's Brits Rising Star Award; indie band Blossoms, post-punk group Wet Leg and singer-songwriter Lola Young.
"FINALLY...Radio 1 HAS COME BACK...to Liv...er...pooool!" said Radio 1 Breakfast host Greg James.
"The last time I was there I was doing a big game of Hide and Seek and was hidden in the Liver building for a week so it'll be nice to see some daylight and enjoy it properly this time.
"We can't wait to bring the biggest artists in the world to this brilliant city in May. Everyone's going to LOVE the line-up!"
Ticketing details and further performers are due to be announced in the coming weeks.
