Ant and Dec confirm SMTV reunion "already" filmed

Ant and Dec confirm that a mooted reunion of SMTV has already been filmed and will air on ITV later this year.

Ant and Dec have confirmed reports that an SMTV reunion is in the works, revealing that it has already been filmed.

The beloved kids show aired on ITV on Saturday mornings, with Ant and Dec hosting alongside Cat Deeley from 1998 to 2001.

Speaking on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 breakfast show this morning, Dec said that the one-off programme would take the form of a retrospective looking at the show's success.

"There's definitely an SMTV reunion," he said. "We've filmed a show looking back at the story of SMTV and how it came about.

"That's going to be on later in the year. We've recorded that already."

The duo were not asked whether a new episode of their popular recurring comedy sketch Chums would be part of the reunion but they did admit to considering reviving SMTV for a full one-off special.

"We said we should just do another one time. Just do it," Dec added. "But do it 9.25 on a Saturday morning for three hours, get bands on.

"I don't know, let's see. We'd love to do it but I don't know if we can."

Ant and Dec return to ITV this weekend for the Britain's Got Talent semi-finals and are also gearing up for the new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! this November.
