Bradley Walsh: 'The Chase about 100 shows behind schedule'

The Chase host Bradley Walsh reveals that the coronavirus outbreak has had a serious impact on the show's production.

The Chase host Bradley Walsh has revealed that around 100 planned episodes of the quiz show have not been filmed due to coronavirus.

The deadly pandemic has brought about an abrupt halt to most TV productions in the country - including the popular game show, which films episodes at an intense pace.

Around 200 new episodes of The Chase - including celebrity and family editions - air on ITV each year and next week a new format, Beat The Chasers, will be stripped over five days in the 9pm timeslot.

"We were so lucky because we filmed [Beat The Chasers] back in January," Walsh told The Sun. "Obviously if it had been a couple of weeks later it wouldn't have been made.

"We stopped filming on The Chase in February, so I would say at the moment we're about 100 shows behind schedule, which we'll need to make up.

"I've got absolutely no idea what is going to happen. We can't say we'll be back to work in a month, eight weeks. No-one knows. All we can do is sit and pray."

Earlier this month it was confirmed that a sixth chaser, former contestant Darragh Ennis, will be joining the lineup.
