Jane Lynch has been confirmed as the new host of a rebooted version of The Weakest Link in the US.
The gameshow sees contestants answer rapid-fire questions before one is eliminated with the catchphrase "You are the weakest link, goodbye."
The show was a huge hit for the BBC under host Anne Robinson, and she crossed the pond to front the US version for broadcaster NBC for two seasons in 2001 and 2002 before it was axed.
Now the network has decided to bring the show back 18 years later, albeit with comedienne Lynch as host in place of Robinson.
"I've been a long-time fan of this game-changing quiz show since it first debuted," said Lynch, who played the acid-tongued Sue Sylvester on the musical drama Glee.
"Each time the phrase 'You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye' passes my lips, it will be with great reverence and delight."
NBC has ordered an initial 13-episode run of the show, which naturally lends itself to safe coronavirus production, for broadcast later this year.
