Music legend Tina Turner, dubbed 'The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll', dies aged 83.

Music legend Tina Turner, dubbed 'The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll', has died at the age 83.

Turner, whose birth name was Anna Mae Bullock, burst onto the scene in the 1960s alongside her husband Ike Turner.

The duo released hits such as 'River Deep - Mountain High' and 'Proud Mary', becoming household names in the process.

However, Tina divorced the abusive Ike in 1978 and went on to launch an even more successful solo career.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Tina had hits including 'What's Love Got To Do With It' and 'The Best', which saw her becoming one of the biggest music stars in the world at the time.

One of the best-selling artists of all time with more than 100 million sales worldwide, she is also a two-time inductee into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame - once with Ike Turner in 1991 and again as a solo artist in 2021.

Tina also has eight Grammy Awards to her name, in addition to three Grammy Hall of Fame awards, and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Announcing her death today, her representative said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow.

"Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."

In recent years, she had suffered from a string of health issues, including cancer, a stroke and kidney failure.
