Ricky Gervais working on After Life scripts in lockdown

Ashley Jensen reveals that Ricky Gervais has started writing scripts for the final season of After Life during the coronavirus lockdown.

After Life star Ashley Jensen has revealed that Ricky Gervais has begun working on the upcoming final season of the hit comedy during the coronavirus lockdown.

Last month Netflix announced that it had convinced Gervais to produce a third season of the comedy after the second season was released to much acclaim.

Gervais has previously cut short self-starring comedies - including The Office, Extras and Derek - at two seasons but admitted that the global reaction to the show convinced him to bring back After Life for one last outing.

Speaking about the comedy on last night's The One Show, Jensen said: "I know a third series is already on its way. And I think Ricky has tapped a few words into his computer or quill or whatever he uses."

A recent report suggested that Netflix are also attempting to persuade Gervais to write a one-off Christmas special.
