Stormzy gives up weed to improve mental health

Rapper Stormzy reveals that he has stopped smoking weed in order to deal with his "mental health problems".

Stormzy has revealed that he has given up smoking weed as part of an effort to deal with his "mental health problems".

The 'Big For Your Boots' rapper has previously spoken about battling depression and has even incorporated the issue into his music, with his track 'Lay Me Bare' alluding to "low" times.

Speaking at an event for a South London charity that works with disadvantaged youngsters this weekend, the 26-year-old admitted that giving up drugs has been a key factor in tackling his problems.

"If you've got mental health problems, stop smoking weed," he is quoted as saying by The Sun. "It's not good for your mental health.

"I have suffered with mental health problems for the past few years. When I used to feel depressed, I would lock myself away and smoke weed and I would just get worse and worse and worse. It does not help your situation. It will f*** you up.

"It feels good for, like, 20 minutes and then after that... we all know, us weed smokers, we know how it goes."

Cannabis is categorised as a Class B drug in the UK, meaning that it is technically illegal to smoke weed, including on private property.
