Another RuPaul's Drag Race spinoff show in development?

The executive producer of RuPaul's Drag Race hints that another spinoff show is on the way this year.

The executive producer of RuPaul's Drag Race has suggested that another spinoff is in the works for this year.

In addition to the main show, currently-active spinoffs include RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, RuPaul's Drag Race Untucked and RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race, while Ru also appears in RuPaul's Drag Race UK.

Hinting at another new show, exec producer Randy Barbato told Variety: "I do think you should be expecting something very soon, actually... but that's all that we can say. How's that for a little bit of a tease?"

The most recent season of the main show wrapped on Friday, with the final two episodes filmed in quarantine due to coronavirus, and Barbato went on to insist that a new season will go ahead next year as planned regardless of how the pandemic unfolds.

"Whatever the iteration is, the new season will be on the air in 2021," he added. "We don't have the date set. But we have no fear that no matter what the world deals us, we'll be able to deliver a new season. You know, Drag Race is like Cher and cockroaches: You can never get rid of them."

Drag Race programming has delivered huge ratings to US network VH-1 over the last few months - and at one point the channel was broadcasting three-and-a-half hours of new material every Friday night.
