Suranne Jones rules out 'Doctor Foster' return

Suranne Jones confirms that she will not return for a third series of popular drama Doctor Foster.

Suranne Jones has confirmed that she will not return for a third series of the popular BBC drama Doctor Foster.

The show, starring Jones as the titular character Gemma Foster, drew audiences of around 10 million across its two series in 2015 and 2017.

The final episode of the second series ended with a cliffhanger as Foster discovered that her son Tom had gone missing.

Asked by the Radio Times if she was now done with the show, Jones admitted: "Yes. I haven't said that before in interviews, as I tend to say 'Who knows?'

"I loved it, I love writer Mike Bartlett, I love the producers Drama Republic. Series one was amazing, series two, equally, peaked at nearly 10 million viewers and pushed in crazy directions. But I think Gemma's done."

Earlier this year it was confirmed that Bartlett has penned a spinoff series, Life, centred on Gemma's neighbour Anna (Victoria Hamilton).
