Hollywood legend Dick Van Dyke is reportedly recovering from minor injuries after getting involved in a car accident last week.

Movie legend Dick Van Dyke is said to be recovering from minor injuries sustained in a car accident last week.

According to TMZ, the 97-year-old was found by police in Malibu behind the wheel of his car, which he had crashed into a gate.

Van Dyke reportedly told officers that his car slid as a result of the excessive rain blighting California in recent weeks and that he crashed into the gate after losing control of the vehicle.

The publication claims that the star was treated for bleeds to the mouth and nose at the scene before returning home.

Van Dyke is said to have been issued with a request to retake his driving test following the incident.
