James Franco reaches settlement over sexual misconduct claims

James Franco reaches a settlement in a lawsuit alleging sexual misconduct against him.

James Franco has settled in the lawsuit of sexual misconduct against him.

In 2019, Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal, two students at Franco's now-defunct acting school, alleged that a lesson on sex scenes became "an orgy-like setting" and passed the boundaries of what was acceptable.

At the time, lawyers for Franco hit out fiercely at the allegations, claiming that they were "false and inflammatory, legally baseless and brought as a class action with the obvious goal of grabbing as much publicity as possible for attention-hungry Plaintiffs".

According to Variety, the actor has now settled the case out of court, although the financial terms have not been disclosed.

Franco has kept a low profile in the industry since the claims first emerged.
