Premier League GW29 predictions: Arsenal to drop more points, revitalised Man United to secure hard-fought win

More dropped points for Arsenal but Man United emerge victorious: Premier League GW29 predictions
Sports Mole takes on Scottish singer-songwriter PG Ciarletta for a Premier League predictions challenge in gameweek 29 of the 2024-25 season.

Arsenal will be aiming to move to within 12 points of Premier League leaders Liverpool when they host Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are currently second in the Premier League table, 15 points off Liverpool, while Mikel Arteta's side are only six points ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea ahead of a huge clash at the Emirates Stadium this weekend.

There are five 3pm kickoffs on Saturday, including Manchester City against Brighton & Hove Albion, while Bournemouth will be aiming to boost their Champions League hopes when they host Brentford in the late start.

On Sunday, as well as Arsenal against Chelsea, Fulham will welcome Tottenham Hotspur for a London derby, while Manchester United will be bidding to record just their 10th Premier League victory of the season when they head to a Leicester City side that are 19th, six points behind 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Another Premier League gameweek means another Sports Mole prediction competition, and this week, we are facing off against Scottish singer-songwriter PG Ciarletta, who is a Celtic fan.

Read on to discover PG Ciarletta's and our predictions for gameweek 29, as well as finding out the results of our head-to-head with singer-songwriter Mychelle from gameweek 28.

Everton vs. West Ham

PG Ciarletta: Everton 2-1 West Ham

Sports Mole: Everton 2-1 West Ham

Another closely-fought contest between Everton and West Ham could be on the cards, and the first goal may be crucial as the team who has opened the scoring has gone one to win seven of the last eight Premier League meetings.

Moyes has faced Potter seven times in the top flight and is yet to celebrate a victory (D5 L2) - the Scotsman has only faced Pep Guardiola on more occasions without ever winning in the division (13). However, we feel that Saturday could the day when his winless streak comes to an end and Everton continue their fine run of form.

Ipswich vs. Nott'm Forest

Saturday, 3pm

PG Ciarletta: Ipswich 0-2 Nott'm Forest

Sports Mole: Ipswich 0-2 Nott'm Forest

The sturdy Forest backline fears no foe, and even though Delap can be a handful for a lot of defenders to deal with, Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic are seemingly well-equipped to keep him in check.

At the other end, McKenna's leaky defence will surely be exposed on more than one occasion, and a straightforward victory for Forest is the only outcome we can envisage here.

Man City vs. Brighton

Saturday, 3pm

PG Ciarletta: Man City 3-2 Brighton

Sports Mole: Man City 3-1 Brighton

Goals are to be expected on Saturday; while Brighton have scored in 26 of their last 29 matches across all competitions, netting at least twice in their last four league games, Man City have scored in all 15 PL meetings with the Seagulls, but have kept just six clean sheets in their last 30 fixtures this season.

Considering their impressive form and the inconsistency of Man City, Brighton will arguably view this contest are their best opportunity to claim their first-ever away win over the Citizens. However, we feel that the hosts may take advantage of Brighton's high defensive line and will ultimately find a way to come out on top.

Southampton vs. Wolves

Saturday, 3pm

PG Ciarletta: Southampton 1-1 Wolves

Sports Mole: Southampton 1-2 Wolves

No team in the Premier League have conceded from more shots than Wolves this season - 15.3% - although Southampton's measly 7.7% conversion rate is also the worst in the division.

The Saints have also lost six top-flight games in which they have broken the deadlock this season, so even if Juric's team can strike first, even a Cunha-less Wolves should have enough firepower about them to turn the tide and enhance their survival chances at the expense of their hosts.

Bournemouth vs. Brentford

Saturday, 5.30pm

PG Ciarletta: Bournemouth 2-0 Brentford

Sports Mole: Bournemouth 2-2 Brentford

Expect another high-octane encounter between two sides who love to attack with intensity, and Brentford's recent spate of away successes means that they have a brilliant chance of avoiding defeat.

An entertaining stalemate is seemingly the likeliest outcome, but do not be surprised to see this game go down to the wire; Bournemouth have scored a league-high eight goals in second-half added time in the 2024-25 Premier League, while Brentford have conceded six such strikes, the second-most behind Villa's seven.

Arsenal vs. Chelsea

Sunday, 1.30pm

PG Ciarletta: Arsenal 2-2 Chelsea

Sports Mole: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

Do not expect sparks to fly at the Emirates Stadium this weekend, as Sunday's London derby pits together two sides who often enjoy plentiful possession without a killer final pass or shot to show for it.

However, with an extra couple of days of rest in their system and the crucial return of Martinelli, Arsenal have our backing to break through the Chelsea backline and use their defensive prowess to enter the international break on a high.

Fulham vs. Spurs

Sunday, 1.30pm

PG Ciarletta: Fulham 1-0 Spurs

Sports Mole: Fulham 2-2 Spurs

Silva's 200th match as a Premier League manager should be good entertainment value for the neutrals, as Fulham can surely afford to adopt an attacking approach against Postecoglou's fatigued men.

However, the Lilywhites have shown increased levels of spirit over the past week and can likely bite back just as hard to claim a well-earned point in a second successive 2-2 top-flight stalemate.

Leicester vs. Man Utd

Sunday, 7pm

PG Ciarletta: Leicester 0-1 Man Utd

Sports Mole: Leicester 0-2 Man Utd

Leicester have struggled in front of goal all season, particularly in front of their own fans, and we expect that to continue this weekend.

United have already beaten the Foxes three times this season, and they should come into this match on a high after they thrashed Real Sociedad earlier in the week.

PG Ciarletta Q&A

PG Ciarletta press shot

How did you come to support Celtic and what are your favourite memories from your time as a fan?

PG Ciarletta: Through my mum's side of my family, from my Celtic supporting gran. On that side there is a lot of Celtic supporting cousins, aunties, uncles and friends. Favourite memories have to be the European nights, but also winning the league vs. Rangers at home.

"Also due to the fact I had a bet on 5-0 which came in and I remember it was 5-0 at 53 minutes, so I was the only person in the home end hoping that the Rangers goalkeeper would start making saves. It was a good night out after.

Who have been your favourite five players for Celtic?

PG Ciarletta: Henrik Larsson, Kieran Tierney, Alistair Johnston, Daizen Maeda and Yang Hyun-Jun.

What's going on for you as an artist at the moment?

PG Ciarletta: I have just released a new song called "Freedom" which has been playlisted by the Premier League, English Football League, and placed on various clubs' matchday playlists, including Celtic.

The song also featured on the Champions League highlights for the last-16 coverage on the BBC so you may hear it at a football stadium near you. Next we are working towards releasing a follow up single and an EP/Album, in the near to mid future. I have also been on an intimate tour in Scotland, with a second planned, before heading out on a main UK tour.

'Freedom' by PG Ciarletta is available to stream now.
