Nick Minaj's father dies at the age of 64 following a hit-and-run accident in New York.

Robert Maraj, the father of Nicki Minaj, has been killed in a hit-and-run accident in New York.

The 64-year-old was hit by a car on Long Island early on Friday evening as he was crossing the street, but the driver quickly fled the scene.

According to TMZ, Maraj was admitted to hospital in a critical condition but died of his injuries over the weekend.

The singer's representative confirmed the news but offered no additional comment, while Nassau County Police have revealed that an investigation is ongoing to track down the driver of the vehicle.

Minaj, who gave birth to her first child in September, has yet to comment on her father's death.
