James Corden has admitted that it would be "a shame" if Gavin & Stacey does not return for another episode in the future.
After an absence of 10 years, the comedy came back off for a one-off Christmas special in 2019 to huge ratings success, with almost 20 million viewers tuning in.
The episode ended on a marriage proposal cliffhanger, however co-creators Corden and Ruth Jones have yet to commit to making a follow-up.
"It's funny, when we wrote that last special, when we went in to write it, we never really thought whether we'd make another one after it," Corden told Radio 2.
"But then that special ends on such a [cliffhanger], it's so open... I think it would be a shame to leave it there. That's certainly my feeling, and I think Ruth feels the same.
"It certainly doesn't feel like the end of the book, it feels like the end of the chapter. I do think that, if we ever did another one, that would be the end of it."
Corden added that if he and Jones do write another episode, they will most likely do so in secret before it is announced.
