ITV reportedly decides against commissioning a new series of gameshow 5 Gold Rings for 2021.

ITV has reportedly decided not to bring back Phillip Schofield-fronted gameshow 5 Gold Rings for a new series later this year.

The show, which sees contestants place rings onto specific areas of an LED-lit floor, has run for four series on ITV between 2017 and 2020.

According to the Daily Star, however, the broadcaster has decided against making a new series for 2021 primarily due to coronavirus restraints.

"It won't be back on TV this autumn like it normally would and there are currently no plans to bring it back in the future," a source told the newspaper.

"This show has been a fantastic success for ITV, but the current climate has made things very tough indeed.

"TV production is extremely difficult while the virus is still around. That means some shows have to be dropped."

Schofield's other ITV gameshow, The Cube, was brought back to screens last year and will return for a new series in the coming months.
