Gavin & Stacey stars Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon are to appear together in a new BBC comedy special this Christmas, it has emerged.
In 2019, Gavin & Stacey returned after 10 years for a new Christmas episode which broke ratings records, with almost 20 million tuning in.
Despite the episode ending with a cliffhanger, Jones and co-creator James Corden have yet to start work on a follow-up episode, but The Mirror reports that Jones has instead developed a new show with Brydon.
Called Ray & Gaynor, the half-hour one-off episode is currently being filmed in the Scottish Highlands and South Wales and has been earmarked for BBC One's Christmas schedules.
"Everyone is delighted to have a little bit of Gavin & Stacey on the BBC this Christmas," a source told the newspaper. "Even if it doesn't have Gavin. Or Stacey."
Programming previously confirmed for the BBC this Christmas includes Superworm, a kids animation with Olivia Colman and Matt Smith; a new festive ghost story adaptation from Mark Gatiss and Christmas specials of Doctor Who and Call The Midwife.
