Taylor Swift sets a new chart record for claiming three UK number one albums in the shortest timespan.

Taylor Swift has smashed a UK chart record held by The Beatles for 54 years by topping the albums chart with Fearless (Taylor's Version).

The singer-songwriter is in the process of re-recording and re-releasing all of her old material after the rights to the originals were sold off to a venture capital firm - and the first shifted 21,000 copies this week to go to the top of the chart and earn her a seventh UK number one album.

The feat means that she has now managed three UK number one albums in the space of just 259 days, following on from Folklore (July 31, 2020) and Evermore (December 18, 2020).

The previous record of 364 days was set by The Beatles in 1965 to 1966 with Help!, Rubber Soul and Revolver.

Elsewhere, Ariana Grande's Positions rises an impressive 45 places to number four on the albums chart following its release on vinyl.

On the singles chart, Lil Nas X has made it three weeks at number one with 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name)' after another 64,000 chart sales - including 8.4 million streams - according to Official Charts Company data.

US rapper Polo G debuts at number three with 'Rapstar', just behind Justin Bieber's 'Peaches' at two, while Joel Corry and David Guetta's 'Bed' hits a new peak of four.
