Acclaimed actor Michael Sheen has been named as Richard Osman’s replacement for the next series of House of Games.
Earlier this month it was announced that Osman will be stepping down from the BBC Two celebrity gameshow after nine series at the helm.
Sheen – known for The Queen, Quiz and Frost/Nixon – will step into his shoes for the next 100 episode series, which will transmit from this September through to March 2027.
“Quite literally very large shoes to fill,” said Sheen, “but as a huge fan of the show I’m incredibly excited to be able to move into the House and at long last see my silhouette on a fondue set.”
BBC commissioning executive Caroline O’Neill added: “We’re delighted to have Michael Sheen stepping into the House of Games.
“His charisma and passion for playfulness will be a joy for audiences and we’ve no doubt he’ll relish throwing himself into a fiercely fought Answer Smash. We can’t wait to share this next era of the show with viewers at home.”
Osman’s final episode is due to air on BBC Two on March 27.
