Claudia Winkleman for The Claudia Winkleman Show / BBC
Claudia Winkleman’s BBC chatshow has reportedly earned a second series after just three episodes.
The programme, which debuted last month, airs in the same Friday night slot as Graham Norton’s long-running show and was given an initial seven-episode order.
Ratings for the first episode have doubled to 2.5 million viewers after seven days thanks to iPlayer streaming, and according to The Sun, the BBC are now prepared to commission series two.
“[iPlayer viewing is] a particular bonus for them because it shows that the younger, more online-friendly market are interested in the show,” a source told the newspaper.
“And that looks like she’s brought them across from her time fronting The Traitors which had a very broad market.
“That kind of shift really matters to the execs as that’s where they see the future of telly lying.
“So it’s understood that Beeb chiefs are poised to rubber stamp another series — if that’s what Claudia wants.”
Episode four airs tomorrow night with guests including James McAvoy, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Rita Wilson and Russell Howard.
