Bradley Johnson has reportedly been axed from his role as Vinny Dingle on Emmerdale after seven and a half years.
The character is the de-facto son of Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and made his Dales debut in January 2019 when Mandy returned to the village.
Recently Vinny has been exploring his sexuality and has got into a relationship with Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) – although according to The Sun, their romance looks set to be short-lived as Vinny will be written out later this year.
“Bradley is a very popular member of the cast and especially close with his on-screen Dingle family,” a source told the newspaper.
“Everyone is shocked that bosses decided to axe him but it’s all part of the ITV cuts and they still need to trim back the cast. They are making [fewer] episodes so don’t need as many characters.”
The insider added: “Lisa is devastated. She adores Bradley and they have such a close bond. It just shows that no-one is safe.”
Other major characters due to leave the soap in the coming months include Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) and Jimmy King (Nick Miles).
