Sherrie Hewson and Jeremy Sheffield as Martha and Jez on Hollyoaks / Lime Pictures
Sherrie Hewson has reportedly quit her role as Martha Blake on Hollyoaks and will bow out later this year.
The actress – formerly of Coronation Street – first appeared in May 2024 as the mother of serial killer Jez (Jeremy Sheffield), who has been responsible for the deaths of at least seven people so far.
Martha has almost become a murderer herself on two occasions – including trying to even bump off Jez – but whether she will be leaving the village in a body bag remains to be seen.
A source told The Sun: “Sherrie’s loved her time at Hollyoaks as Martha but she was only ever going to be in the show for a limited time.
“Martha’s become an iconic character but the end is nigh for her as the show races towards its 30th anniversary later this year.
“There are lots of twists and turns to play out over the coming months but it’s definitely going to be an exit to remember.”
News of Hewson’s exit comes days after it emerged that Rita Simons will also be leaving her role as Marie Fielding this autumn.
