The identity of Gary Windass’s (Mikey North) attacker has been revealed in today’s episode of Coronation Street, which is now available on ITVX.
Last seen heading out of Weatherfield last month to get some space from wife Maria (Samia Longchambon), Gary was subsequently revealed to be in a coma as a result of an attack.
In today’s episode, it was revealed that Lou (Farrel Hegarty) has been visiting Gary in hospital masquerading as his wife “Gemma” and claiming that he was “Chesney” who suffered an accidental fall while taking a selfie.
In flashbacks, Lou was seen meeting Gary asking for money so that she could start a new life with her children away from the Street – threatening him with falsely telling Maria that they were having an affair.
When Gary flatly refused to yield to her blackmail, Lou saw red and hit him in the back with a metal pole – leaving him seriously injured.
Shocked by what she had done, Lou hid as drugged-up youngsters Nina (Mollie Gallagher) and Summer (Harriet Bibby) arrived on the scene, freaking out before running off.
At the close of the episode, in the present day, Gary opened his eyes.
