Chidi Ogandu for Love Island 2026 / ITV
It was curtains for two Sleepover Bombshells on last night’s Love Island as Chidi Ogandu and Halle Brown were dumped from the villa following a vote among the couples themselves.
Shortly after his departure, Chidi sat down with the press to reflect on his time on Love Island 2026…
How does it feel to be leaving Love Island?
“It feels bittersweet, but I’m at peace with it.”
How would you describe the experience?
“I’d describe it as eye-opening. I’ve learned a lot about myself. It’s been a good experience overall. One of my favourite parts was obviously being with the boys and seeing how the dynamic worked. Just being able to actually live it and see it for what it was.”
You came in as a Sleepover Bombshell. How was that?
“It was good. I wish I’d chosen someone else for my sleepover person, but it is what it is now. I feel like I’d still make the same decision because, at the end of the day, what’s meant to be is meant to be. Being in the sleepover Villa was like a little bite-sized teaser for what it was going to be like in the main Villa. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but it was good because I got quite close to the boys. Because it’s such a small Villa, talking to people brings you a lot closer. You share a little section of the show that not many people get to share. The girls were good. Obviously, my situation with Mica and Simba was a bit sticky, but it was good nonetheless.”
You chose Mica initially for the sleepover. Why did you choose her?
“I chose her because of how she carried herself. On top of that, she’s a beautiful girl, but it was more about how she carried herself and how mature she seemed. I definitely pride myself on being as honest as I can with people in my life, and seeing how she carried herself for her age was something I valued. That goes a long way with me. It goes a lot further than just a pretty face.”
You came back to the main Villa with Mica and then continued to get to know her, how was that for you?
“It was a bit of a rollercoaster. At times, she gave the impression that she was more open to getting to know me, but my gut feeling was that there wasn’t much of it being reciprocated. I would have preferred a bit more honesty from the start because I feel like, once you know, you know. Jasmine told me straight away, ‘You know what, I’m in a situation with Kav, but there’s no real spark with me and you.’ I just felt like I deserved a bit more honesty because I chose Mica based on how honest I thought she was as a person. If she’d given me more clarity, I wouldn’t have chosen her in the coupling situation.”
What do you want people to take away from your time on Love Island?
“Hopefully people can see how it all went with the whole Mica situation. I just felt like I should have been given a bit more clarity. I felt like she should have been more honest with me, the same way Jasmine was honest with me from the start. If she’d have just told me she wasn’t feeling it, I would have gone about my way and left her alone instead of continuing to pursue it. If I’m telling you I’m still interested and still trying to make it work, then if you’re not feeling it, just tell me.”
Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
