Jasper Carrott has issued a statement after his daughter Lucy Davis revealed that she is living with terminal cancer.
The Office actress, 53, announced earlier this week that she has been diagnosed with incurable, stage-four breast cancer which has spread to the point that it is “too late for chemo”.
Veteran comedian Carrott, 81, told The Sun: “This is a very difficult time for the whole family and we have been supporting her in every way possible since her diagnosis.
“We are so grateful for all the support we have had over this trying time and we are very hopeful for her future being what she wants it to be.
“We are so proud of our daughter and love her so much. The way she has conducted herself through many traumatic health issues is a lesson to us all.
“We would request privacy for the coming months, but thanks once again for the love and concern shown by so many people.”
Following her announcement, Davis has received messages of support from co-stars and colleagues across the industry, including Jenna Fischer, who played her counterpart Pam on the US version of The Office.
“Beautiful post. Love you lots,” she wrote, adding: “And yes to working with cancer! Let’s spread that message far and wide! How working is such a comfort.”
