Doctor Who star Alex Kingston has reportedly signed up to take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The 62-year-old – River Song in the sci-fi show – is also known for her roles on US medical drama ER, superhero drama Arrow and fantasy series A Discovery of Witches.
According to The Sun, Kingston was convinced to take part after watching her close friend Sarah Hadland compete last year, finishing as a runner-up.
A source said: “Bosses are delighted to have snapped up Alex.
“She’s a real talent and will add a lot. It’s always exciting to have a prestigious actress on the cast.
“It’s the first time Alex has done a reality show of any kind, but she’s a huge fan of the show and couldn’t resist the opportunity.”
Other names thought to be in the lineup for the new series – due to begin on BBC One next month – include Stefan Dennis, Balvinder Sopal, Sir Mo Farah and Dani Dyer.
