Jack P Shepherd for Celebrity Big Brother 2025 / ITV
Celebrity Big Brother will air on ITV2 instead of ITV1 in 2026, it has been revealed.
After a five-year absence, Big Brother returned to UK screens in 2023 with a new series on ITV2, followed by the return of the celebrity spinoff in early 2024.
CBB has instead been broadcast on ITV1 – stripped six nights a week – and the most recent run aired in April with Coronation Street‘s Jack P Shepherd being crowned the winner.
Talking at the Edinburgh TV Festival today, ITV’s MD of media and entertainment Kevin Lygo confirmed that the show will be back for a fresh instalment in Spring 2026 but will play out on ITV2 with a smaller budget to spend on the celebrity participants.
“Celebrity Big Brother we’re looking at,” he said. “We’re thinking not on the main channel, that’s the answer.
“It’s so difficult now to book big celebrities, famous people, which is what we need on the main channel. Whereas you can go more interesting and niche on ITV2.”
Referring to the show’s production company, he continued: “We’re in a battle with Endemol about the price.
“It does really well for us on ITVX. It’s a really important, crucial show. I love it and it does a tremendous job for us so, yes, it’s coming back.”
The civilian series is expected to return at the end of next month for an extended seven-week run.
