A new Coronation Street trailer has provided a sneak peek at the escalating tensions in the Platt household.
Earlier this year Shona (Julia Goulding) was rocked by the arrival of her estranged – and extremely poisonous – sister Jodie (Olivia Frances-Brown) in Weatherfield.
In the nine months since, Jodie has waged a relentless campaign against almost everyone on the street with her manipulative and jealous behaviour, including horrific online abuse of Daniel (Rob Mallard) and even committing GBH against Shona’s sister-in-law Sarah (Tina O’Brien).
In recent weeks she has set her sights once again on trying to split up Shona and husband David (Jack P Shepherd) by gaslighting her sister into believing that she is losing her marbles – and in new scenes airing next month, she tells David: “You “deserve someone that will treat you right”.
Speaking about the new developments, Frances-Brown said: “Jodie has convinced herself that David symbolises her potential for future happiness. She’s lost the plot a little bit and truly believes David is the answer to all her wants and needs.
“When pushed, you just don’t know what Jodie’s capable of. She has a lot of dark secrets and has a genuinely sinister side to her.”
