A re-release of Jaws to mark the iconic film’s 50th anniversary performed strongly at the US Box Office on Friday, according to provisional figures.
The Steven Spielberg classic pulled in $3.08m (£2.28m) across 3,200 venues in the States, only marginally behind the $3.2m (£2.37m) haul for Caught Stealing, a new dark comedy gangster movie starring Austin Butler.
Weapons added a further $2.7m (£2m) on Friday for a domestic total of $124.9m (£92.5m) to date.
The Roses, a black comedy starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, opened at number four for the day with $2.4 (£1.8m).
