Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in The Roses / Searchlight
Marital comedy The Roses, starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch, opened at the top of the UK and Ireland Box Office over the weekend, according to early figures.
The film – a reimagining of the 1989 original – pulled in £2.18m over the weekend to claim the number one spot, displacing Weapons, which fell to three and now has a gross of £10.39m.
A re-release of Jaws to mark the movie’s 50th anniversary was the second biggest draw over the weekend, notching up receipts of £1.1m.
Caught Stealing, a gangster comedy with Austin Butler and Zoe Kravitz, had a lacklustre opening with sales of £571k to debut at number six.
