Ego Nwodim as Lisa From Temecula in SNL / NBC
Ego Nwodim has become the fifth cast member to leave Saturday Night Live ahead of the new season.
The comedian has been a part of the show for the last seven seasons and is most known for playing the ridiculous character ‘Lisa From Temecula’ over the last few years.
Explaining her decision, she wrote on Instagram: “The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL.
“I am immensely grateful to Lorne for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship.
“Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories, and that laughter, with me always. Now, invite me to your weddings please!!!”
Nwodim’s departure follows those of Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, Heidi Gardner and Emil Wakim and is believed to be the final cast change before the new season, with the likes of Marcello Hernandez, Bowen Yang and Kenan Thompson all due to return.
Saturday Night Live premieres Saturday, October 4 on NBC in the US and the following night on Sky Comedy in the UK and Ireland.
