Brooke Vincent as Sophie Webster in Coronation Street / ITV
Brooke Vincent has opened the door to a return to Coronation Street as Sophie Webster after six years away.
The character – daughter of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Sally (Sally Dynevor) – departed the cobbles in late 2019 to go travelling, while in real life Vincent left to give birth to her first child.
Vincent’s desire to return echoes recent comments from Helen Flanagan, who plays her on-screen sister Rosie and is also keen for a Weatherfield comeback.
“I feel like Corrie for me is home,” Brooke told The Mirror. “Whenever, if ever, they ask me, I’d love to go back and see them. It’s a different type of job now we’ve got the boys. I’ve got a lot of friends there, it’s like my family.
“It’s such a lovely place to work, so definitely, I feel like I’ve had such a long time off that I’ve been able to enjoy my children without the schedule of how hard it can sometimes be. I think obviously now they’re a bit older and they’re a bit more independent, and there’s obviously the opportunity to take on more work.
“It’s the adult conversation, routine, it’s always a gorgeous place for me to work, and I have gone off and worked in different environments with different people, but Corrie is a huge part of me, and I feel incredibly lucky to have that.”
Any potential return for Rosie and Sophie could tie in to the long-term storyline involving their aunt Debbie (Sue Devaney), whose battle with dementia is due to run “well into 2027”.
