Three regular characters were killed off, with the lives of others hanging in the balance, as Hollyoaks aired its 30th anniversary episodes this week.
Carnage erupted in the village when serial killer Jez (Patrick Sheffield) and a maniacal Clare (Gemma Bissix) crashed a small aircraft, sparking a series of chain reactions.
First to die was Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), who was crushed by a ship chimney after pushing love interest Tom (Ellis Hollins) out of the way.
O’Donnell had been on the cast for 12 years and prior to the episodes there had been no indications that she would be leaving the soap.
Next Jez finally got his comeuppance as he fell into the rotating propellor of the same aircraft he had caused to crash.
Wednesday’s episode ended with another death as the villainous Grace Black (Tamara Wall) died in her hospital bed, moments after making amends with her son Rex (Jonny Labey).
Elsewhere, the fate of Nancy (Jessica Fox) remained uncertain as she fought for her life in hospital, Tony (Nick Pickard) was shot – seemingly either by Diane (Alex Fletcher) or Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Ste (Kieron Richardson) was left lying motionless in the road after being hit by a car.
Hollyoaks continues Monday from 7am on Channel 4 streaming and at 7pm on E4.
